Really need help with my bt home hub wireless...?

iv'e had a bt home hub fo about half a year now and ive been using the ethernet cable and usb to connect the home hub to the pc. but now the pc has broken and i have bought a laptop how do i use wireless without all the bloomin' leads, i have an adaptor that has come with the laptop and i have wireless built into the laptop but i don't get where to put the leads and as soon as i unplug them from home hub the laptop says im not connected to the internet, i have turned on the wireless on on the laptop fromm off to on and i don't get what to do next pleas ehelp me in simple computer illiterate terms please.
