When did you know it was time to part w/your 4 footed friend (dog)?

I'm a big believer in dog dignity. It sounds to me like he is still enjoying life to some degree, getting out for little walks and laying by the fire. I think when it gets to the point where he can't take care of himself, like has to be carried out to pee, can't eat OR if he is in pain more often then not (I'm don;t know what the meds are, but I ume they are to help the pain) then he will be really unhappy. I think it's good you've started thinking about it before it's become urgent, so you can become somewhat mentally prepared to make a decision when you really have to. You clearly take great care of your dog, I think you will know when the time is right.
